Ylenia Ann A. Quiaoit, DNP, RN, CRNP, ACNP-BC, is a board-certified acute care nurse practitioner and cardiovascular advanced practice leader with more than 20 years of experience in advanced heart failure, mechanical circulatory support (MCS), and heart transplantation at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
She manages the Cardiology Advanced Practice Provider service, leading an inpatient team across advanced heart failure, transplant, MCS, interventional cardiology, and general cardiology. She established and directs the Cardiology track of Penn Medicine’s APP Fellowship Program. At Penn, she co-directs the APP fellowship’s didactic courses, developing curricula to prepare clinicians for specialized cardiovascular, critical care, emergency medicine and hospital medicine practice. Her quality-improvement work advances guideline-directed heart failure care and has contributed to fewer 30-day readmissions. She helped develop a pilot that safely transitioned patients receiving Impella 5.5 support from the ICU to PCU care; the model is now institutional protocol.
At Hunter College–CUNY’s Bellevue School of Nursing, she is an adjunct assistant professor. She developed the acute care curriculum for the combined AGACNP-CRNA DNP program and currently serves as course director for its acute care courses. She mentors students and supports clinical competency and evaluation.
She has authored peer-reviewed publications and delivered dozens of national and international presentations. She serves on the Heart Failure Society of America Nurse Committee, served as an expert panelist for The Joint Commission’s Heart Failure Advisory Panel, and contributed to the American College of Cardiology’s cardiovascular palliative care education workgroup.
Her commitment to nursing is rooted in her Filipino heritage and the example of her parents, both nurses. She brings compassion, humility, and perseverance to her work, believing that patients with complex cardiovascular disease deserve evidence-driven, deeply human care. She strives to align treatment with patients’ and families’ priorities while strengthening care teams and preparing future nurse practitioners to provide exceptional care.
