Simi is a nurse practitioner, professor, and researcher. She is an advanced practice provider for the gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) program at Northwestern Medicine, an adjunct faculty member at Benedictine University, and an international faculty member at MAHE University, India. She completed her BSN from MAHE University, India, MSN from North Park University, DNP from Loyola University, and is currently a PhD candidate at Northern Illinois University. In addition, she is a research scholar who completed the clinical research post-graduate program from Harvard Medical School. She has contributed to the growth of advanced practice providers through sustained advocacy, mentorship, research, and leadership over the 14 years of her career. She is an active member of the Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates, Gastroenterology and Hepatology Advanced Practice Providers, and American Association of Nurse Practitioners. In addition, she serves on the boards of the Indian Nurses Association of Illinois and the National Association of Indian Nurses of North America (NAINA). She received the national award for excellence in clinical practice from the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). She continues to serve as the peer reviewer for Gastroenterology Nursing Journal and has co-authored Gastroenterology Nursing: A Core Curriculum, 6th Edition. She has been nominated as a distinguished fellow in the Nursing Academy of the National Academies of Practice for the class of 2023.
