Does Twitter impact research citation rates? “Use of alternative online means of distribution for research is a rapidly evolving area in orthopedics,” researchers posit, so they explored Twitter use and the association between Altmetric Attention Score and citation rates across numerous orthopedic journals. Included in the study were close to 3,000 articles, and conclusions included that tweets sent by authors and/or departments had the highest impact on future citations.
