Janey Abney, MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC, is a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner who earned her graduate degree from McNeese State University in 2017. She is the founder of Pontchartrain Psychological Associates, LLC in Covington, Louisiana where she specializes in child and adolescent psychiatry.

Mrs. Abney has been honored with the following accolades since beginning her nurse practitioner career: NDNA’s Excellence in Nursing Award, LSNA’s 40 under 40 Award, LANP’s NP Excellence Award, and the Faces of Healing Award from LSNA. She is an active member of the LANP, LSNA, and NDNA. She has also served on the scholarship committee for the Louisiana Nurses Foundation, was a member of the Professional Women of St. Tammany, and has precepted the next generation of nurses and NPs.

Janey is also an author, and in 2020 she published a children’s book highlighting the importance of love and friendship. Her closest confidant and husband, Steven, has never failed to support her in every endeavor along the way. She enjoys traveling and spending time with her bonus children-Henry, Charlotte, and August.

Janey is a leader and a mentor, recognizing the gift and responsibility that the NP profession entails, and she aspires to share the light of this profession through integrity, excellence, and empathy.
