Jason Prevelige, DMSc, MBA, PA-C, DFAAPA is a seasoned physician associate with over 17 years of clinical experience and a decade of academic experience. He has practiced emergency medicine and various pediatric subspecialties his entire career. He is an assistant clinical professor and the founding program director of the Sacred Heart University Doctor of Medical Science program in Fairfield, Connecticut. He is also an assistant medical director for Vituity at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, Connecticut. In that role he oversees patient experience, a dedicated team of PAs and APRNs, and other operational aspects of the department. He additionally serves as a PA for Connecticut Children’s in Hartford, Connecticut, and as an adjunct professor for Quinnipiac University.

Dr. Prevelige has spent his career as a staunch advocate for patients and PAs. Becoming involved with the Connecticut Academy of PAs (ConnAPA) shortly after graduation from PA school at Quinnipiac, he went on to serve in a number of roles, including as President. He continues to serve ConnAPA as the Chair of the Legislative Committee. He went on to serve the American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA) through the House of Delegates, as chair of multiple commissions, as a Director-at-Large on the Board of Directors, and culminated his service with election to the role of President and Chair of the Board of Directors. He completed his term of service to the AAPA Board in 2026.

His time as President of the AAPA was one of dedication to advancing healthcare in the United States and internationally. Through conversations with leaders across professions and political leaders, engagement with media, and travel across the U.S. and abroad, he served as a tireless advocate for the PA profession, representing the necessity of the profession and elimination of practice barriers to the healthcare system.

He is passionate about helping PAs and PA students recognize the importance and value of advocacy, with frequent invitations to speak at PA programs, conferences and other events. He enjoys serving as a mentor to aspiring leaders and takes pride in his ability to see the leadership qualities in people and helping to guide them into roles where they can share their abilities.
Dr. Prevelige completed his undergraduate studies at Sacred Heart University with a BA in history. He was heavily influenced towards his future professional leadership during his time at Quinnipiac’s PA program while surrounded by many leaders of the profession, and he later earned an MBA from Quinnipiac as well. Most recently, Dr. Prevelige earned a Doctor of Medical Science from University of the Pacific.

When not working or engaging on behalf of his profession, Jason can usually be found at a hockey rink where he coaches and supports his son alongside his wife. Aside from being a hockey family, together they enjoy travelling the world and finding new sights to explore.
