Trent Carter is a board-certified nurse practitioner, board-certified in addiction medicine, and the Founder and CEO of Renew Health, an outpatient network of addiction treatment practices serving communities across New Mexico. With more than a decade of nursing and addiction-treatment experience, he focuses on evidence-based, stigma-free care for people living with opioid, stimulant, and alcohol use disorders.

Through Renew Health’s clinics and telehealth services, Trent has helped expand access to Medication-Assisted Treatment in rural and underserved areas, partnering with local organizations, jails, and community agencies to build practical pathways into recovery. His work centers on treating the whole person – integrating medical care, counseling, and long-term support to help patients rebuild their lives, families, and futures.

Trent has been recognized as one of Albuquerque Business First’s “40 Under 40,” and his clinics have been named both a “Best Drug and Alcohol Rehab Center in New Mexico” and a “Best Place to Work.” He was also honored with the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Presidential Distinguished Alumni Award and Community Advocacy Award for his leadership in expanding access to high-quality addiction care.

Outside of the clinic, Trent is a speaker, podcast guest, and author of The Recovery Tool Belt, where he translates complex addiction science into practical tools for patients, families, and clinicians. He is an advocate for modern, compassionate addiction care and frequently collaborates with clinicians, policymakers, and community leaders to reduce stigma, promote Medication-Assisted Treatment, and build sustainable systems of recovery across New Mexico.
