Heather Davis-Lopez, DMSc, MPAS, PA-C, is a certified Physician Associate, educator, healthcare advocate, and nonprofit leader with nearly a decade of experience in clinical practice and medical education. Her clinical career has been rooted primarily in urgent care, where she has cared for patients across the lifespan while managing a broad range of acute illnesses, injuries, and time-sensitive conditions. Her experience also includes pediatrics and occupational medicine, contributing to the adaptable, patient-centered approach she brings to clinical practice.
Heather currently serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Physician Assistant Studies Program at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, where she draws upon her clinical experience to prepare future PAs for practice. She is passionate about innovative medical education, clinical reasoning, and developing confident, compassionate clinicians who are prepared to meet the needs of their communities.
Her commitment to the PA profession extends beyond the classroom. Heather serves as President of the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants, advocating for PAs and the patients they serve throughout Texas. Her advocacy efforts have included legislative engagement and testimony before the Texas House Committee on Public Health.
Heather is also President and Co-Founder of the Titi’s Tatas Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to breast health education, awareness, and improving access to breast cancer screening in the Rio Grande Valley.
Whether caring for patients, educating future clinicians, advocating for the PA profession, or serving her community, Heather remains committed to expanding access to high-quality healthcare and using her experiences as a PA to make a meaningful impact both within and beyond the exam room.
