Sarah Patel is a physician assistant with over ten years of clinical experience in academic medicine. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, in 2008. Ms. Patel went on to pursue a dual master’s degree at Philadelphia University, earning her MBA with a concentration in Healthcare Management in 2009 followed by her M.S in Physician Assistant Studies in 2011. She received her Doctor of Science in physician assistant studies in 2019.

Sarah practiced in bariatric surgery and adolescent medicine before she spent 10 years as a PA in the division of gastroenterology at Weill Cornell Medicine/New York Presbyterian Hospital where she provided both inpatient and outpatient care as well participated in clinical research. She joined the Rutgers University Physician Assistant program faculty in January 2016 where she currently provides several GI medicine lectures and mentors students in the clinical phase of the program. Sarah is a member of various professional organizations including the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) and Physician Assistant Education Association (PAEA). She is a faculty advisor of the Gastroenterology & Hepatology Advanced Practice Provider (GHAPP) organization and a member of the Advanced Practice Provider committee for the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG). Sarah has also served as a member of the APP collaborative committee for RWJ Barnabas Health.
