Recently, the FDA had made updates on mammography regulations to require mammography facilities to inform patients about their breast density, reinforce FDA oversight and enforcement in facilities, and aid in physician understanding in better organizing and examining mammograms, in addition to other updates. Regarding breast density, the update has precise language on the impact of breast density on mammography accuracy. In improving the FDA-oversight in mammography facilities, the goal is to make sure crucial information is communicated in patient care. The updates to these regulations aim to include modern best practices in science and mammography in bettering the detection of breast cancer as well as encouraging patients to make crucial decisions for their breast health.
