In orthopedic surgery, controlling blood loss is crucial, and hemostatic agents play a vital role in limiting bleeding. New hemostatic agents originally designed for vascular surgery have found applications in orthopedics. This study provides an overview of different types of hemostats, including mechanical hemostats, active hemostats, flowable hemostats, and fibrin sealants, and discusses their mechanisms of action and optimal uses in achieving hemostasis during orthopedic surgery.
