A recent study looked at plasma levels of adiponectin, leptin, and resistin—adipokines (cytokines)—in patients with psoriasis and how the levels relate to the Psoriasis Activity Severity Index, Dermatology Life Quality Index, and Body Surface Area index. Plasma concentrations of resistin were significantly increased in patients with psoriasis compared to healthy patients, and the overall study results confirm resistin’s role in psoriasis pathogenesis, as well as adiponectin’s and leptin’s, which were also studied.
